What Are You Looking For?

Orlando has far more to book than theme parks. Compare Universal and Disney tickets, swim and snorkel at Discovery Cove, ride through Florida wetlands by airboat, visit Kennedy Space Center or finish the day with a dinner show.

We break down the options, trade-offs and ticket choices so you can find the Orlando experiences that actually fit your trip.

Our Shortlist

The Orlando Experiences Worth Looking At First

Eight experiences that cover most Orlando trips — and the real decision behind each one.

Best for rides, Harry Potter, Nintendo & teens

Universal Orlando

Universal has become a vacation in its own right, especially since the arrival of Epic Universe. The complicated part is choosing between parks, park-to-park tickets and multi-day combinations.

Compare Universal Orlando tickets

Best for the classic Orlando family trip

Walt Disney World

Four enormous theme parks mean the bigger question isn't whether there's enough to do — it's which parks are worth your limited vacation days and what type of ticket you actually need.

Orlando Airboat Rides

Swap queues and roller coasters for wetlands, wildlife and alligator country. The real choice is where to ride, how long to spend on the water and whether to add a wildlife park.

SeaWorld Orlando

Some of Orlando's biggest coasters alongside the marine shows and exhibits — often a quieter, cheaper day than the Disney and Universal parks.

Beyond Disney

Orlando Beyond the Theme Parks

You don't have to spend every vacation day inside a giant theme park. Some of Orlando's most memorable experiences are much smaller — and much easier to fit around Disney or Universal.

The Day Trip Most Visitors Add

Want to Visit Kennedy Space Center From Orlando?

Kennedy Space Center is close enough for a day trip but far enough away that transport becomes part of the decision. You can drive yourself and buy admission, join a coach trip from Orlando, or pay more for a smaller guided tour.

Airboats

Which Orlando Airboat Ride Should You Choose?

Ride length, a gator park and transport matter more than the price tag, so here is how the main options compare.

Wild gator sightings are never guaranteed on any ride; a ride with a gator park is the safer bet. Boggy Creek’s own 30-minute rides can also be taken walk-up at its Southport Rd park.

Discovery Cove

Is Discovery Cove Worth the Money?

Discovery Cove costs considerably more than most Orlando attractions, but it is also fundamentally different: admission is capped, food and much of the equipment are bundled into the day, and you spend it swimming, snorkelling and relaxing rather than moving between rides.

Compare Discovery Cove ticket options →

  1. Standard Discovery Cove

The day resort itself — reef snorkelling, the lazy river, aviary, beaches, meals and drinks.

  2. Discovery Cove + Dolphin Swim

The same day with a small-group dolphin swim added — the reason most people book.

  3. Discovery Cove + SeaWorld/Aquatica

Packages that add follow-on park days, which changes the value maths completely.

Before You Book

Before You Book Orlando Attractions

  1. Don't automatically buy every attraction separately

Bundles sometimes make sense — a Discovery Cove package with follow-on SeaWorld days, or a multi-attraction ICON Park ticket — but only if you’ll actually use every part of them.
  2. Check exactly which park your ticket covers

Particularly at Universal, where a one-park ticket, a park-to-park ticket and an Epic Universe day are different products. Universal Express passes are add-ons and do not include admission. See Universal ticket options explained.
  3. Decide whether you need transport

Especially for Kennedy Space Center and the airboat operators out past Kissimmee. A tour with hotel pickup can cost less than a rental car day plus parking. See Orlando without a car.
  4. Don't assume "Orlando" means downtown Orlando

Most attractions are around Kissimmee, Lake Buena Vista and International Drive — and the airboats, LEGOLAND and Kennedy are much further out than their addresses suggest.
  5. Book the limited-capacity experiences first

Discovery Cove, dolphin swims, small-group tours and specific show times sell out in a way that a big theme park’s general admission does not.
