The Full Breakdown
An airboat ride is Orlando’s quickest escape into wild Florida. The lakes and marshes south of Kissimmee are the headwaters of the Everglades, and a flat-bottomed boat pushed by a giant fan can cross grass and shallows that normal boats can’t. The rides differ more than the listings suggest: some last 30 minutes, some two hours; some come with a whole wildlife park, some are just the boat.

The Wild Florida airboat ride and wildlife park ticket is the easy family choice. Pick a 30-minute or 1-hour ride on the Wild Florida property near Lake Cypress, then spend as long as you like in the Alligator Park, with a live gator demonstration, a bird aviary and exotic animals. On a day when the wild gators stay hidden, the park’s resident alligators make up for it. There is no minimum age, children 2 and under ride free, and ear protection is provided.
The trade-offs: it’s the farthest drive, about 34 miles from Disney, and the park is closed on Sundays. Wild Florida also has a drive-thru safari; our Wild Florida safari guide covers it, and our airboat ticket breakdown has the details.
Marsh Landing Adventures runs from 2830 Neptune Rd in Kissimmee, on Lake Tohopekaliga, and has operated since 2008. Its boats are smaller, which lets them reach marsh the big barge-style boats can’t. The Kissimmee Everglades airboat adventure runs 1 or 1.5 hours, the Florida Everglades wildlife airboat tour is 1.5 hours with a wheelchair-accessible boarding ramp, and the 2-hour Everglades airboat tour is for keen birders and photographers. Captains talk about the area’s Native Americans and early settlers. See our Marsh Landing breakdown.
Choose it for more time on the water. Skip it if you want an animal park afterwards, as the tours are just the boat. Also from Neptune Rd, the 1 Hour Airboat Everglade Tour by Northern Everglades Adventures runs on Lake Toho.
Two operators sit closer to the Disney and Kissimmee hotels. The Orlando airboat tour with alligator and wildlife viewing leaves from the park at 2001 E Southport Rd, the Boggy Creek airboat park, about 30–35 minutes from Disney. It includes park admission with a gator pond and butterfly garden. Put the street address in your GPS, since searching the name can send you to the wrong spot. The same park’s sunset airboat tour lasts an hour and is timed for golden hour.
Gator Airboat Rides’ Everglades tour from Big Bass Rd is a 30-minute ride with live commentary, and afterwards you can hold a baby alligator. It’s short and simple, which makes it good with younger kids.
Boggy Creek Airboat Adventures also sells its own rides, including night tours, and its 30-minute rides can be taken without a reservation.

"A great afternoon out and fantastic value for money"

"Mike was great!!!! He made sure we saw all the rare birds and took us to the spot where an alligator just had babies. Saw a bunch of babies and some 2-3 year olds. The ones in the open water were shy and ducked right away. The boat ride was the most fun I’ve had in a long time! We will definitely be back."

"We had such a great time at wild Florida! Our tour guide was amazing, so knowledgeable and we got to see quite a few gators in the wild along with other birds and wildlife, it was beautiful! Then we went back and got see Crusher be fed and learn all about gators from their trainers, Coby (it might have been Cory I quite remember!) was really good at explaining why these gators were in captivity and how they trained then for certain things, there was also a great variety of other animals to visit and see - excellent value for money and a really great day out! Thank you"

"We had a brilliant time in the hour long airboat tour with Jeff. I am glad we went for the hour long tour as half an hour wouldn’t have felt long enough. We saw so many different birds, turtles and alligators. The wildlife park is also brilliant to walk aroun"

"Loved our half hour airboat tour. Highly recommend."

"Mike was very informative and a really nice person. The ride across the Everglades was fun and the wild life park was also really cool especially the feeling of the alligators"

"Jeff was our guide and he did a wonderful job. He knew where to find the alligators. He took us right to a mom and her babies and was able to point them out easily. The boat ride was smooth and loud but they provided ear protection for everyone including out toddler. The boat left on time and the views were lovely."

"Our family visited wild florida adventure park today, we booked an airboat ride which was fantastic, the guide was very informative and knew the spots where there were Gators, the park was amazing especially being able to get up close to the parks animals, would recommend a visit."

For families, Wild Florida is the most complete: every airboat ticket includes its wildlife park and a live gator demonstration. For wildlife watchers, Marsh Landing's 1.5- and 2-hour tours on Lake Toho give you the longest time in the marsh. If you're staying near Disney and want something short, the Southport park and Gator Airboat Rides in Kissimmee are the closest of the rides on this page.
Most rides last 30 minutes or 1 hour, and a few run 1.5 or 2 hours. Add check-in time: Wild Florida asks you to arrive 45 minutes before departure, and the Southport park asks for 30 minutes. With the drive and a wildlife park, plan half a day. A tour with hotel pickup and a 30-minute ride usually has you back by lunchtime.
Yes. Several rides include round-trip transport from the Orlando, Kissimmee and Disney areas, including a Wild Florida ride with BBQ lunch and a combo with Gatorland. Most of the airboat parks do not run their own shuttles. Compare the options, and what the transfer adds in time and money, on our airboat tours with transport page.
Often, but never guaranteed. Operators such as Wild Florida and Boggy Creek say wild sightings can't be promised, because these are wild animals in open marsh. Your odds are better in the cooler parts of the day: early in summer, around midday in winter. If seeing a gator matters, pick a ride with a park, such as Wild Florida or the Southport park, or add Gatorland.
Yes. Wild Florida and Marsh Landing have no age limit, and ear protection is provided because the engines are loud. Young children must wear life jackets, usually those under 6. Short 30-minute rides suit toddlers best, and Boggy Creek advises against 1-hour rides with very young children in the hottest months. See Orlando with kids for more ideas.
Go early in summer and around midday in winter. Wildlife is less active in extreme heat or cold, and Florida's summer thunderstorms mostly arrive in the afternoon. Wild Florida suggests 9 AM in summer and 12:45 PM in winter. For photos, a sunset ride catches birds returning to roost in the evening light.
The Kissimmee lakes are the closest. The Southport park on E Southport Rd is about 30 to 35 minutes from Disney, and Gator Airboat Rides and Marsh Landing are also in Kissimmee. Wild Florida, in Kenansville, is about 34 miles from Disney, so allow extra time. Use the street address in your GPS, since operator names can send you to the wrong place.
