Things to Do in Orlando at Night
Orlando after dark: dinner shows, fireworks, Disney Springs and CityWalk, WonderWorks till midnight, gator flashlight tours, glowing kayaks, car cruises.

Orlando’s evenings are easier than its days. The heat eases, the parks are behind you, and you can do something completely different from the parks. The simplest plan is a dinner show, which gives you a meal and a performance in one booking. After that, choose by mood: fireworks, a free wander around Disney Springs or CityWalk, gators by flashlight, or a kayak on water that glows.
For a first night out, the Polynesian Fire Luau is the most reliable choice: indoors, air-conditioned, about two hours, with a buffet and a fire-knife finale that works for every age.

Dinner shows: the easiest night out
Dinner shows solve the question of where to eat and what to do in one ticket. Doors open early evening, and many shows wrap up by 8 or 9 pm, which suits families with young kids.
- The Polynesian Fire Luau with dinner and live show runs about two hours in an indoor room in Kissimmee, with a lei greeting, an all-you-can-eat buffet, a live Polynesian band and a Samoan fire-knife finale. Doors open by 6 pm. Our Polynesian Fire Luau guide covers seating and food.
- The Medieval Times dinner and show in Kissimmee has six knights jousting on horseback, falconry and a four-course feast eaten with your hands. It’s the best fit for younger kids who love knights and horses. That ticket is non-refundable. See our Medieval Times guide.
- The Pirates Dinner Adventure deluxe package, near I-Drive, is a 90-minute interactive pirate show with a three-course dinner and unlimited soft drinks.
- The Outta Control Magic Dinner Show, inside WonderWorks, is the casual option: unlimited pizza, beer, wine and soda with magic and comedy.
- For adults, Capone’s Underground on International Drive is a 1920s speakeasy musical comedy with an Italian-American dinner, open every day except Monday.

Fireworks and after-dark park events
If you already hold a park ticket, the nighttime shows are included. Magic Kingdom’s “Happily Ever After” runs most nights; as of September 2026 it starts at 9:30 pm, moving to 8 pm from November 1 when the clocks change. EPCOT’s “Luminous The Symphony of Us” combines fireworks, fountains and lasers over World Showcase Lagoon. SeaWorld runs its IGNITE fireworks and drone show at park close on select nights, so check the SeaWorld calendar.
Fall adds separately ticketed events. Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida runs on 49 select nights through November 1, 2026, with 10 haunted houses. It’s for teens and adults, and it needs its own ticket on top of any day ticket. For daytime park tickets, see Disney World tickets and Universal Orlando tickets.
Disney Springs and Universal CityWalk: free to walk in
Both shopping and dining districts charge nothing to enter, which makes them the easiest free evening in Orlando. Disney Springs is Walt Disney World’s shopping and dining district, and self-parking in its garages has been free. Universal CityWalk is the resort’s restaurant and bar district, next to the parks, and a good base before or after Halloween Horror Nights.
CityWalk parking is widely reported to be free after 6 pm except on event nights such as Halloween Horror Nights, but Universal’s own parking page couldn’t confirm it when we checked, so look before you drive. One 2026 change for Disney visitors: since June 28, the Disney buses and boats between Disney Springs and the Disney resort hotels need a resort room key or a reservation at that resort, so you can’t use Disney Springs as a free hop to hotel restaurants any more.
International Drive after dark
International Drive stays busy late. At ICON Park, Madame Tussauds and SEA LIFE open into the evening, and Blue Man Group has played its new theater there since May 2026. The 400-ft Orlando Eye is at its best at sunset, but it was closed for annual maintenance on September 19, 2026, so check its calendar before you plan a ride. Under-18s should note ICON Park’s chaperone rule: when it’s in force, guests 17 and under need an adult aged 21 or older with them.
WonderWorks is open until midnight every day of the year. The WonderWorks nighttime entry ticket covers laser tag, the motion theater and the glow-in-the-dark ropes course for less than the all-day ticket. Doors lock at 11 pm. It’s a strong option for kids who still have energy after dinner, and a perfect storm plan.
Gators by flashlight and sunset airboats
Gatorland’s nighttime tour, Gator Night Shine, takes small groups into the alligator breeding marsh at dusk with flashlights. The Gatorland flashlight tour at night includes a guide, a flashlight, insect repellent and gator food to toss, and lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. It runs five nights a week (not Mondays or Thursdays), starting between 6:30 and 8:30 pm depending on the season. The rest of the park is closed by then; for the daytime visit, see Gatorland tickets.
For open water, the sunset airboat tour with alligator and wildlife viewing is a one-hour ride timed for golden hour, when it’s cooler and the evening animals start to stir. As with every airboat ride, gators are likely but not guaranteed. The Orlando airboat tours hub compares daytime rides.
Glowing water: bioluminescence and LED kayaks
From about June to October, the lagoons east of Orlando light up when anything moves through them. The peak is July to September, and a dark, new-moon night is best. The Magic After Dark bioluminescence kayak tour is a small-group paddle with a return voucher if the glow doesn’t show. It meets off State Road 528 toward Cape Canaveral, so you need a car and should expect to get wet.
Outside glow season, or closer to town, the LED night glow clear kayak or paddleboard tour lights your own boat instead, on a gator-free lake with skyline views. It’s beginner-friendly and kids ride with an adult.
Free nights: Old Town car cruises
Old Town in Kissimmee, on W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, hosts two free car shows every week. The Friday Night Muscle Car Show & Cruise and the Saturday Night Classic Car Show & Cruise both end with a parade at 8:30 pm, and spectators pay nothing. Thursday is karaoke night. It’s a relaxed, old-school evening that grandparents and car-mad kids both enjoy.
Planning your evenings
- Watch the sky, not the clock. In summer, storms build in the afternoon and lightning peaks between noon and midnight, so keep outdoor plans flexible and have an indoor backup such as WonderWorks or a dinner show. Our indoor things to do guide lists more.
- Book dinner shows for your first or last night, when you’re least likely to want another park.
- Plan the ride home. Rideshare works well from I-Drive, Disney Springs and the dinner-show venues; see Orlando without a car for the trolley and bus options.
- For daytime ideas away from the parks, read things to do in Orlando besides Disney.
Frequently asked questions
What can you do in Orlando at night for free?
Walk Disney Springs or Universal CityWalk, which both charge no entry; watch the Friday or Saturday car cruise at Old Town in Kissimmee, free for spectators; or stroll the ICON Park promenade on International Drive. If you already have a Magic Kingdom or EPCOT ticket, the nighttime fireworks shows are included. Parking rules differ by venue, so check before you drive.
What are the best things to do in Orlando at night with family?
A dinner show is the easiest family night: the Polynesian Fire Luau for mixed ages, Medieval Times for knight-loving kids, or the pizza-and-magic Outta Control show. WonderWorks is open until midnight for kids with energy left, and Gatorland’s flashlight tour is a memorable hour for school-age children. Fireworks inside the parks round out the list.
What is there to do in Orlando at night for couples?
Try a bioluminescence kayak tour on a summer night, the after-hours helicopter flight over the theme parks, or Blue Man Group at ICON Park. Capone’s Underground on I-Drive is a dinner show aimed at adults, and a sunset airboat ride is quieter than most daytime rides. Disney Springs and CityWalk both work for dinner and drinks afterward.
What can teens do in Orlando at night?
Teens tend to like WonderWorks’ laser tag and ropes course, Halloween Horror Nights in the fall, and I-Drive’s evening attractions. Note that ICON Park can enforce a chaperone policy requiring guests 17 and under to be with an adult aged 21 or older. Our Orlando with teenagers guide has more ideas.
Is it safe to do outdoor activities in Orlando at night in summer?
Mostly, if you watch the weather. Central Florida gets more lightning than anywhere else in the US, largely between noon and midnight from May to October. If you hear thunder within 30 seconds of a flash, get indoors. Tour operators pause or cancel for storms, so book with free cancellation where you can.
