The Full Breakdown
Gatorland is the Orlando attraction that never tried to become a theme park. It opened in 1949, still greets you through a giant gator mouth, and calls itself the Alligator Capital of the World. The 110-acre park holds more than 2,000 alligators, and it sits only 15 to 20 minutes from Disney. That makes it an easy half-day on an arrival day or between park days.
The Gatorland skip-the-line ticket covers a full day in the park: every show, every exhibit, the free-flight aviary, the alligator breeding marsh boardwalk and the petting zoo. You can leave for lunch and come back, which helps in summer.
The three shows are the backbone of a visit. Gator Jumparoo has large alligators leaping four feet or more out of the water for food. Alligators: Legends of the Swamp, the show many people still call gator wrestling, puts a handler in with 6 to 8 foot gators in a shaded stadium. Up Close Encounters brings out smaller animals. Don’t skip the White Gator Swamp, home to two leucistic alligators, which are among the rarest in the world.
Who should skip it: anyone hoping for a slick, ride-filled day. Gatorland is outdoors, a little rough around the edges on purpose, and mostly about animals. Paid extras such as animal encounters and souvenir photos are not included. Read our breakdown of the ticket for the full inclusions list.
The Gatorland flashlight tour at night is Gatorland’s official Gator Night Shine. A guide leads a small group along the wooden walkways of the breeding marsh at dusk, and the flashlights pick up rows of eyes in the water. You get to toss food to the alligators, and insect repellent is provided.
It lasts about an hour to 90 minutes, and Gatorland caps groups at 25. It runs five nights a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday), with a start time between 6:30 and 8:30 pm depending on the season. This ticket does not include daytime entry to the rest of the park, so it pairs best with a separate day visit or as a stand-alone evening. Looking for more evening ideas? See things to do in Orlando at night.
The Gatorland zip line adventure with full-day park access adds the Screamin’ Gator Zip Line to admission. There are five lines totaling about 1,200 feet, launched from towers up to 65 feet high, with speeds near 30 mph and a swinging chain bridge over the ponds. Allow about 90 minutes for the zip line itself.
Gatorland sets a 37-inch minimum height and a 275-pound weight limit, with no minimum age, and closed-toe shoes are required. Children 8 and under must zip with a participating adult. It’s a strong pick for families with older kids who would find the shows alone a bit slow.
The Gatorland interactive tour with an animal trainer takes you behind the scenes. You hold a baby alligator, see the big gators and crocodiles backstage and learn how the trainers feed them, then keep the rest of the day to explore with the included admission.
It’s a newer, smaller listing with only a handful of reviews so far, and it isn’t suitable for children under 12. Book it if hands-on time with the animals is the whole point of your visit. For a first visit with younger kids, the regular admission gives you more for the money.
The airboat tour and Gatorland day with hotel pickup combines a 30-minute airboat ride at Boggy Creek with Gatorland admission, and transport from Orlando between both. A driver-guide handles the logistics. Bring bug spray and a poncho, since you may get wet on the boat.
This is the answer if you have no car and want both sides of Florida’s gator country in one outing. It costs more than doing it yourself, and the review count is still small. If you can drive, compare the separate options on our airboat tours page, or see airboat tours with transport for other pickup rides.
Gatorland is at 14501 S. Orange Blossom Trail, just north of the Orlando–Kissimmee line on Hwy 441. Parking is free. Without a car, a short rideshare from Kissimmee or the Disney area works, or see our guide to Orlando without a car.
The park is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm, rain or shine, including holidays. The 2026 schedule runs Up Close Encounters at 10:45 am and 2 pm, Gator Jumparoo at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, and Legends of the Swamp at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Times can change, so check the board at the entrance.
Almost everything is outdoors. In summer, arrive at opening, catch the morning shows and use the shaded stadium for a break. Afternoon thunderstorms are common from June to September. Bring sunscreen, water, a hat and a towel for kids who find the small water play area. Plan on about three to four hours, plus roughly two more if you add the zip line.
If you want a bigger, wilder day, compare Gatorland with Wild Florida in our Gatorland vs Wild Florida guide, or look at the Wild Florida drive-thru safari. Planning with children? Our Orlando with kids hub has more half-day ideas. And if a storm rolls in, switch to our indoor things to do in Orlando.

"I absolutely loved it. me and my husband had a brilliant time. loved seeing all the different animals. done the close encounters with a snake, tarantula and of course the gators. it is fairly cheap to enter park. get refills ( not free but really cheap, under $1) if you buy the cups. you pay $5 or 10 for an animal encounter but you have to pay separately for the pictures. although they do allow you to take your own pictures. in my opinion it is great value for money. we spend the full day there. taking our time and enjoying everything. can be done quicker if you want to just rush round it but personally I don't see the point. if I am ever back in Florida (I'm from Scotland) I would definitely be back."

"Had a fantastic day at gatorland! Myself and the family would highly recommend a visit here."

"It was a great experience. It had a little bit for all ages. From the petting zoo and shows to the interaction with the gators."

"what can I say, its exactly as advertised. Gators everywhere and then some. The shows were good and seeing the other animals was fun. Would definitely go again."

At the gate, a Gatorland day pass is from about $34.99 for adults and $24.99 for children aged 3 to 12 (as of 2026), and children 2 and under go free. Buying on Gatorland's own website saves $3 on adult and child tickets. The GetYourGuide ticket above shows its live price and adds free cancellation up to 24 hours before your visit.
Yes, if you want a relaxed, affordable half-day with a lot of alligators and some genuinely good shows. It is less polished than the big theme parks and almost entirely outdoors, so it suits animal lovers and families more than ride fans. Its big advantage is location: about 15 to 20 minutes from Disney, so it fits easily around park days.
Plan on about three to four hours to see all three shows and walk the exhibits and the breeding-marsh boardwalk. Add roughly two hours if you book the zip line. The shows run at set times through the day, so check the schedule on arrival and build your visit around Gator Jumparoo and Legends of the Swamp.
Gator Night Shine is Gatorland's guided flashlight tour of its alligator breeding marsh at dusk. It lasts about an hour to 90 minutes, groups are capped at 25, and you get to feed the alligators. It runs Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting between 6:30 and 8:30 pm depending on the season. Reservations are required, and daytime park entry is separate.
The simplest saving is buying online: Gatorland takes $3 off adult and child tickets bought on its website. Seniors aged 60 and over get a reduced rate at the gate with ID. If you want extras, the Greater Gator Package (from about $41.99 adult and $33.99 child) adds Meet-A-Gator, unlimited train rides and gator food. Check the park's specials page before you go.
The 2026 schedule runs Up Close Encounters at 10:45 am and 2 pm, Gator Jumparoo at 11:30 am and 4:30 pm, and Alligators: Legends of the Swamp at 12:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Times can change, so confirm them at the entrance. Arriving at the 10 am opening lets you catch the morning shows before the afternoon heat.
Yes. Gatorland is a short rideshare from Kissimmee and the Disney area.
